AK - The Alaska Board of Professional Counselors at (907) 465-8444 requires 40 contact hours of continuing education credit with a minimum of 3 hours in Ethics. Supervisors, choose from 18 Supervision courses, not required. (See our Ethics courses). Continuing Education Deadline: October 31, 2027

The Alaska Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 20 Contact hours of our home study/distance learning courses due to our NBCC providership #6102.

AL - The Alabama Board of Examiner in Counseling at (205) 458-8716 requires 40 contact hours of continuing education for LPCs with 6 hours in Ethics and 10 contact hours of continuing education for ALCs 2 hours in Ethics. (See our Ethics courses.) Continuing Education Deadline:  July 31, 2028

The Alabama Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 CE hours for LPCs and 2.5 CE hours for ALCs of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102 and counseling theory and practice content.

AR - The Arkansas Board of Examiners of Counselors and Marriage-Family Therapist at (501) 683-5800 requires 24 clock hours of continuing education with a minimum of 3 hours in Ethics and 6 hours related to specialty. (See our Ethics courses.) Continuing Education Deadline: June 30th.

AZ - The Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners at (602) 542-1882 requires 30 clock hours of continuing education credit with a minimum of 3 CE hours in  Behavioral Health Ethics or Mental Health law and 3 hours in Cultural Competency/Diversity (See our Ethics and Cultural Competency/Diversity courses.) The Arizona Board accepts 30 Clock hours of our online courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

CA - The California Board of Behavioral Sciences at (916) 574-7830 requires 36 hours of continuing education credit and accepts 36 CE hours with a minimum of 6 hours in Law and Ethics (see our Ethics courses) of our online CE courses. 6 hours in Supervision for Supervisors. (See our Supervision courses.) Mandated first-time renewal course in HIV/AIDS 7 hrs  (See our 7 hr HIV course.),  one time requirement of Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention 6 hrs and one time requirement of Telehealth 3 hrs. (See our Telehealth courses.) Continuing Education Deadline: Individual. 
The California Board of Behavioral Sciences accepts our course CE hrs due to our APA, ASWB, and NBCC providerships. PCE 5351 state approval is no longer needed.

CO - The Colorado State Board of Professional Counselor Examiners at (303) 894-7800 requires 40 PDH of continuing professional development program. Continuing Professional Competence Deadline: August 31, 2027

The Colorado State Board of Counselor Examiners accepts 40 PDH of our home study/distance learning courses in two formats:  Format #1 - Coursework, Professional Development Activity due to: "Professional Development Hours may be accrued for ... online coursework... Coursework should expand or refine your professional skill and experience. A total of 20 Professional Development Hours may be accrued for Coursework during each 2-year renewal cycle.”   Format #2 - Independent Learning: A total of 20 PDH may be accrued in Independent Learning activities to include reading “professionally relevant literature” i.e. reading course content found on OnlineCEUCredit.com.  One hour spent in active learning reading “professionally relevant literature” i.e. OnlineCEUCredit.com. course material is equivalent to one PDH.  

CT - The Connecticut Department of Public Health Office of Practitioner Licensing & Investigations Section at (860) 509-7603 requires 15 Contact hours of continuing education credit with 2 hours in Mental Health Conditions related to Veterans and Family Members of Veterans and 1 hour in Cultural Competency, and 3 hours in Ethics. The Connecticut Board accepts 15 Contact hours of our distance learning, Internet-based courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

DC - The District of Columbia Board of Professional Counseling at 202-442-5955 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit with a minimum of 6 hours in Ethics and 4 hours in Trauma, and 2 hours of LGBTQ+; and at least ten percent (10%) of the total in subjects determined by the Director to be the public health priorities of the District, which shall be duly updated and published every five (5) years or as deemed necessary by the Director. DE - The Delaware Board of Professional Counselors of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Professionals at 302-739-4522 requires 40 clock hours of continuing education credit, 3 hours in cultural inclusion, equity, and diversity. Continuing Education Deadline: September 30, 2026

The Delaware Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 20 CE hours of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

FL -

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at 850-245-4474 requires 25 hours of continuing education credit  with a minimum of 3 hours of Ethics & Boundaries or 3 hrs Telehealth, 3 hours of Laws & Rules, every 3rd biennium, 2 hours of Medical Errors prevention, 2 hours of Domestic Violence, every 3rd biennium, and 4 hours Supervision for Supervisors, every 3rd biennium. The Florida Board accepts 25 hours of our home study courses due to NBCC #6102 providership. Hours are reported to FL #BAP 578 CE Broker #50-24842.

GA -  The Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social  Workers, and MFT at (478) 207-2440 requires 35 clock hours with 5 hours in Ethics (cannot be obtained through independent study, or online.) Continuing education hours in professional ethics cannot be obtained through independent study, or online. Continuing Education Deadline:  September 30, 2027

The Georgia Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 clock hours of our courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

HI - Continuing education hours are not required for Hawaii Counselors.

ID - The Idaho Licensing Board of Professional Counselors and Marriage & Family Therapists at (208) 334-3233 requires 20 contact hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours in Ethics & 6 hours in advanced supervisor training (every 2 years).. The Idaho Board accepts 20 contact hours of our online courses due to NBCC provider #6102.

IL - The Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulations for Counselors at (217) 782-0458 requires 30 hours of continuing education credit, 3 hours in Ethics and 9 hours of Supervision, as a one time requirement (see our Supervision courses). Continuing Education Deadline:  March 31, 2027

The Illinois Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts all CE hours of our home study/correspondence courses due to NBCC providership #6102 and we are an approved provider in IL #159-000736. 

IN - The Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board at (317) 234-2064 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit with 2 hours in Ethics (See our Ethics Courses). A licensee shall complete not less than 20 CE hrs per year. A minimum of 1 CE hr per year in Ethics. Continuing Education Deadline: March 31, 2027

The Indiana Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist licensing renewal Board accepts 40 CE hrs of our Category I home study due to NBCC providership #6102. All of our courses are Category I due to NBCC providership #6102.

KS - The Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board at (785) 296-3240 requires 30 hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours Ethics, 6 hours Diagnosis and Treatment & and 3 hours in Supervisory skills for supervisors.. The Kansas Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 30 continuing education hours of our courses due to our requirement for taking a posttest to receive a CE certificate.

KY - The Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors at (502) 564-3296 requires 10 continuing education hours with 3 hours in Domestic Violence within three years of initial licensure and 6 hours in Suicide Assessment, Treatment, and Management every 6 years. (See our Domestic Violence and Suicide Assessment courses.) Our Domestic Violence courses are KY Board accepted due to NBCC providership. Continuing Education Deadline: N/A

The Kentucky Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 continuing education hours  of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

LA - The Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners at (225) 765-2515 requires 40 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) with 3 hrs in Ethics, 6 hrs in Diagnosis and Treatment, 3 hrs in Supervision  for Supervisor and 3 hours in Teleheath. The Louisiana Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 30 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) hours via our courses: 20 hours online and 10 hours home study due to NBCC providership #6102.
COVID Waiver: The Louisiana Counselor Licensing Renewal Board stated, all CEUs can be online until the end of 2021.

MA - The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health Professionals at (617) 727-3080 requires 30 contact hours of continuing education credit, 3 hours of Ethics, 3 hours of Anti-Discrimination; and 3 hours of Supervision training for Licensees who supervise clinical work of students, interns, or others. Continuing Education Deadline:  December 31, 2027

The Massachusetts Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 30 contact hours of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102. 

12-14-23 REGULATION UPDATE: Per a conversation with the MA Professional Development Director (781-254-6644) all 30 contact hours can be obtained from any source including online courses. This information appears on your License Renewal Application.

MD - The Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists at (410) 764-4732 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit. Continuing Education Deadline: LC's have a deadline of January 31st and CPC's October 31st. LGMFT and LGPC deadline is individual.

The Maryland Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 CE hours of our Category B distance learning courses due to NBCC providership #6102. 18 hrs in Supervision, must be face-to-face or "direct" (i.e. live/synchronous). Courses dealing with Supervision cannot be taken via our asynchronous home study. 

ME - The Maine Board of Counseling Professional Licensure at (207) 624-8626 requires 55 contact hours of continuing education credit with 4 hours of Ethics. (See our Ethics courses). Continuing Education Deadline: Individual

The Maine Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 55 contact hours of our formal home study, online courses due to NBCC providership #6102 and providing a certificate of completion.

MI - Continuing education hours are not required for Michigan Counselors.                  

MN - The Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy at (651) 201-2756 requires 40 clock hours of continuing education credit. At least four of the required 40 continuing education clock hours must be on increasing the knowledge, understanding, self-awareness, and practice skills that enable a licensed professional counselor and licensed professional clinical counselor to serve clients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds Continuing Education Deadline: Individual

The Minnesota Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 clock hours of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102.

MO - The Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors at (573) 751-0018 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit with 2 hrs Suicide Assessment, Referral, Treatment, and Management. Continuing Education Deadline:  June 30, 2027   The Missouri Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts all 40 CE hours of our home study as "formal hours" due to:
1. The content of our CE relates to professional counseling.
2. You receive a certificate of completion, thus the hours are formal hours.
3. Our NBCC providership #6102

MS - The Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors at (601) 359-1010 requires 24 hours of continuing education with 6 hours in Ethics, 2 hrs Telemental Health if you are a distance services provider, and a minimum of 1 hr per year in Supervision for Supervisors.. MT - The Montana Board of Behavioral Health at (406) 444-5696 requires 20 clock hours of continuing education with 2 hours of Suicide Prevention.  Continuing Education Deadline: December 31, 2026

The Montana Board of Behavior Health accepts 20 CE hours of our home study courses due to our courses meeting participants professional educational objectives to increase professional competence and are directly related to practice professional responsibility or ethical obligations. (Prior to 3-31-19 Individual course approval was required. this individual course approval is no longer required.)

NC - LPCA, LPC, and LPCS:  Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor

The North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors at (844) 622-3572 requires 40 contact hours of continuing education with a minimum of 3 hrs in Ethics and if a Supervisor 10 hrs in supervision. A total of 50 contact hrs are required for Supervisors. (See our Ethics and Supervision courses.)  Continuing Education Deadline:  June 30th.

ND - The North Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners at (701) 667-5969 requires 30 LPC and 40 LPCC CE hrs are required with 3 hrs in Ethics for renewal. (See our Ethics courses.)

The ND Board accepts 15 LPC and 20 LPCC CE hrs of our online home study due to NBCC providership #6102.

NE - The Nebraska Board of Mental Health Practice at (402) 471-2117  requires 32 hours of continuing education credit with 4 hours of Ethics, LIMHPs must complete at least 6 hours of CE relating to diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders each renewal period. (See our Ethics courses).  Continuing Education Deadline:  September 1, 2026

The Nebraska Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 32 CE hours of home study online due to our courses meeting the Nebraska 94-014.06 “Home Study Program Criteria.”

NV - The NV Board of Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors at (702) 486-7388 require 20 CE hrs with 3 hrs in Ethics, 2 hrs in Suicide Prevention & Awareness, and 1 hr in Supervision, for Supervisors (See our Ethics, Suicide, and Supervision courses). The NV Board accepts 10 hrs of our online home study courses due to course content pertaining to MFT and CPC. Thus are accepted as meeting NV CPC regulation. Deadline: December 31, 2026

NY - The New York State Board for Mental Health Practitioners at (518) 474-3817, ext. 450, requires 36 continuing education hours for each triennial registration period. The NYSED (New York State Education Department) accepts 12 hours of our self-study online courses. The Continuing Education Deadline is individual.

Our courses have received approval to provide continuing education to LMHCs in New York State. Healthcare Training Institute and Retreat Centers, Inc. is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors. OH - The State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and MFT Board at (614) 466-0912 requires 30 clock hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours in Ethics and 3 hours of Supervision, if in supervisory position. (See our Ethics and Supervision courses). Continuing Education Deadline:  Individual

The Ohio Board accepts 30 hours of our distance learning courses due to due to NBCC providership. CE hours are reported to CE Broker #50-24842.

OK - The Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure at (405) 522-3696 requires 20 clock hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours in Ethics and 3 hours Supervision, if a supervisor. (See our Ethics and Supervision courses). Continuing Education Deadline:  June 30, 2027

The Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure, accepts 20 Clock hours of our home study courses, due to the OK Board's approved providership.

OR - The Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists at (503) 378-5499 requires 40 clock hours of continuing education credit with 6 hours in Ethics, 4 hrs Cultural Competency, 2 hrs Suicide risk assessment, treatment, and management, and 3 hrs Supervision for Supervisors. PA - The Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors at (717) 783-1389 requires 30 clock hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours in Ethics, 2 hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting, and 1 hr Suicide Prvevention. The Pennsylvania Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts all 30 CE hours of our home study courses due to NBCC providership #6102. PA Bd accepts home study courses that are 2 hrs or more.

RI - The Rhode Island Board of Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists at (401) 222-1057 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit. Continuing Education Deadline:  May 30, 2028

The Rhode Island Counselor licensing renweal Board accepts 40 CE hours via our Category I web-based courses due to NBCC providership #6102. 

SC - The South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Psycho-Educational Specialists at (803) 896-4658 requires 50 contact hours of continuing education credit. If in a supervisory position, 10 hours of Supervision are required. 5 hours of Supervision may be obtained on an “informal” basis such as self studies, internet , etc. 6 hours must be specific to ethical standards (See our Supervision Courses). Continuing Education Deadline:  August 31, 2027

The Texas Board accepts all 24 hours via our online courses due to our courses are related to counseling; presenter has experience and knowledge; certificate issued; and evaluation provided.

UT - The Utah Division of Occupational & Professional Licensing at (801) 530-6628 requires 40 hours of continuing education credit with 6 hours in Ethics and 2 hours in Suicide Prevention. (See our Ethics courses.)  Continuing Education Deadline:  September 30, 2026

The Utah Counselor licensing renewal Board accepts 10 CE hours of our home study courses. CE certificate states, "This course is directly related to practice as a clinical mental health counselor."

UPDATE 3/25/20: Online CE may be accrued instead of live CE for purposes of license renewal consideration for a renewal date occurring before October 1, 2020.

VA - The Virginia Board of Counseling (804) 367-4610 requires 20 hours of continuing education credit with 2 hours in Ethics. (See our Ethics Courses.) Continuing Education Deadline: June 30, 2027

WY - The Wyoming Mental Health Professions Board at (307) 777-3628 requires 45 contact hours of continuing education credit with 3 hours in Ethics and 3 hrs in Suicide Assessment or Intervention, beginning January 1, 2020. The Wyoming Board accepts 45 hours of our online courses due to our courses meeting the requirement of "having significant intellectual or practical content, and the primary objective shall be to increase the participant's competence within each licensed or certified discipline."
